In today’s lifestyle, we do not like waiting. We like fast food, rapid transportation, nail polish that dries instantly, clothing that takes a minute to wash, homes built in weeks (not months) and the list goes on and on. Honestly, I hate waiting as well. It just seems to be a waste of time. Sometimes, waiting on the Lord can seem slower than slow. Nevertheless, Patience is a fruit of the Spirit, which God wants us to mature in and use. God’s timing is under His control and developing a nature of patience is a virtue God wants to develop in each of us for our good. So, David said to the Lord “I wait for You” I can trust You to answer because You are my Lord and my God. David spoke this Psalm when he was in deep trouble. His friends and enemies were looking to destroy him, and David was on the run for his life. So, this passage of scripture gave him peace of mind. Likewise, waiting is a critical part of our spiritual development. Waiting on the Lord can be the foundational test of our faith. In Psalm 27:14, David says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” When you wait on God, He will answer, and you will be blessed. So, do not be impatient and take matters into your own hands like Abraham and Sarah (Gen. Ch. 12-25). Nations are still in conflict due to their impatience. So, if you are waiting on God for something, keep waiting with faith. God’s timing is not like humans. But God is always on time!! Amen.

“AMAZING GRACE"
By Rev. Beverly Barnfield
Ministerial Staff Reid Temple AME Church
One of my favorite hymns of the church is “Amazing Grace”, written by an Anglican clergyman by the name of John Newton. These timeless and inspiring words provide a first-hand account and personal experience of God’s amazing grace in the life of Mr. Newton, as well as the Apostle Paul. The revelation found in II Corinthians 12:9 echoes from the Apostle Paul’s lips -- God’s grace is sufficient and greater than the thorns in our lives. Paul pleaded three times with the Lord to take away his dreaded thorn, but the Lord responded, “My grace is sufficient for you; my power is perfected in weakness.” Although there has been great speculation about what Paul’s thorn was, it remains a mystery. Only God knew Paul’s thorn. Only God knows your thorn. Because His grace is sufficient. God knows the measure of grace you need to live with your thorn. He knows the right amount to perfect you and sustain you in the midst of your storm. And He knows exactly how much grace you’ll need to survive whatever causes you to drop to your knees. Paul said that he’d rather boast, not in his strength, wisdom, or power, but in the mighty power and grace of God through his Son Jesus Christ. God’s grace is sufficient because in our weakness His strength is manifested, by way of the Holy Spirit, in us and through us. God’s faithfulness is sufficient. It was sufficient for the thorns in the life of John Newton and the Apostle Paul, and it remains sufficient for the thorns in your life. Remember, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from every sin, perfects us in our weakness, sustains us through every storm, and covers every thorn. His grace truly is “amazing” and is sufficient for us. Amen!

Inspirational Scripture Quote: John 14:26
By: Rev. Rowena White
Pastor-Campfield AME Church, Pikesville, MD
The Holy Spirit has been given to every believer to help us live the Christian life. He helps us to love the unlovable, to live according to the Word of God, and comforts us when we are lonely or discouraged. Jesus gave every believer the Holy Spirit when He went back to His Father so that we may live our lives with wisdom and understanding. When we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh we bring glory to God because others will see how believers in Christ should live, and they will also see the joy, peace, and love that the believer enjoys. The Holy Spirit helps us to remember the lessons that Jesus taught. The disciples were eyewitnesses to the life and ministry of Jesus as He went through the land preaching, teaching, healing, and delivering people from bondage. The Holy Spirit helped the disciples as they convinced others that Jesus was real. Therefore the New Testament is the truth and can be trusted. Praise God for the Holy Spirit which brings to our remembrance all that Jesus has done for us. Amen!!

As a Believer in the finished work of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, we receive a gift. That gift is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. Acts 2:38 informs us that when we repent of our sins and get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was sent by God as our Helper, companion, and guide to keep our focus on doing God’s will for us. Most certainly, we will be tempted by the devil to convert to living through our fleshy desires. Romans 8:9 reminds the Believer that we are not controlled by our sinful nature. We are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. We must make sure we are growing day by day under the authority of the Holy Spirit who influences, directs, and guides Christians, producing meekness, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, etc. (Galatians 5:22-23). The expression, to dwell in one, denotes intimacy of connection and means that those things which are the fruits of the Spirit are produced in the heart. God wants to help us avoid sin, but we need to be willing to accept His help. Therefore, ask God to open your heart to the Spirit’s leading, and ask the Spirit Himself what He would show you daily in prayer. AMEN!!

Greetings Family and Friends:
Our focus scripture Mark 1:12-13 is structured to help us stay strong when the devil wants to steal our joy. Jesus had just been baptized by John the Baptist. The Spirit of God had anointed Him and God Himself had given Jesus public praise as His only Son. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit was present at the same time as Jesus was coronated as King. Mark’s gospel tells us that following this ceremony of such great significance, Jesus is then led (I like encouraged to go) into the wilderness. Jesus' ministry on earth is about to take off. Likewise, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and become joined to Christ, we can expect that heavens Angels are rejoicing. Nevertheless, we need to be prepared that Satan (the devil) is waiting to steal our joy. Even when we receive a blessing from God, remember that our adversary (Satan) may take the opportunity to attack. So be on the watch! Jesus was not surprised, nor left alone, the scripture states, the Angels attended to Him. Sometimes we must stand the enemy down with the Word of God. It helps to know the game plan of the enemy. Because the devil will strike when we least expect it. When you are attacked, to overcome the enemy triumphantly, we do not need to retreat, but be alert, stay armed in Christ. Depend on God in prayer. Take up the sword of God’s Word, and the enemy will flee because he is already defeated. Remind Satan, he is under your feet. Remember we have the victory through Jesus Christ. Amen!!

Proverbs 16:3 is clear and direct concerning how we are to start our
day. The scripture specifically tells us to commit our actions to the
Lord. I believe this statement is reminding us that we are to be in
prayer and humbly request that the Lord will put His blessed directions
on everything we do that is honorable in His sight. Everything means
everything. It’s so easy to get started on our daily tasks thinking that
we can handle most of the routine activities and only seek the Lord
when we face complex projects or unsettling issues that seem too
hard for us to resolve. Nevertheless, this scripture gives us the liberty to
commit all our actions to the Lord, not just those which we find difficult
to handle. The Bible instructs, “Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you” (Psalms 37:5). The Lord will help you, that is if what we are asking for is in His will. The Bible also warns us, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1). This scripture is pointing us to cast our small, medium, and large
projects on the back of the Lord. He can do what we cannot do. When
issues are given to the Lord, the way He makes it work for the good
may seem strange, but just keep trusting. Look at the story of Joseph
(Genesis chapters 37-50). Joseph went from one tragedy to another,
until God worked everything for his good. Hallelujah!! Saints, before you embark on a project, even daily living activities, lay it before God and be sure to get His blessing and authorization before you sink time and energy into it. AMEN.

In our focus scripture Psalm 95:2, the first thing that stands out is the beckoning for us to come. “Come let us” …. however, with our current quarantine situation due to Covid-19, most of the doors to our
places of worship are closed. Nevertheless, God has planted some rather innovative mechanisms for us to come together and give Him praise anyhow or despite locked church doors. Glory to God!! The devil is a liar. Pastors and church leaders have initiated virtual and different opportunities for coming together to give God praise. We have more opportunities to give God praise and come together in the virtual than ever before. Come let us join in His presence. We can use Zoom, webinars, go to the meeting, phone-call in, televised evangelism, and other high technology systems being developed at rapid speed.
Look at God! In God’s presence, our hearts must be prepared to know we are entering a spiritual realm like non-other. This scripture reminds us to come into His presence with “thanksgiving,” for God is our rock of salvation. That fact alone is enough to shout and sing for joy. God has a plan, and His plan works for our good. Worship Him, worship Him. As a Christian, remember that you are entering into the very throne room of
God. Even if it is your living room, kitchen, home office/study, or bedroom. Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews
4:16). So, before we start thinking of asking God for things, let us come joyfully with praises, thanking God for everything!! Hallelujah!! Come before His presence rejoicing in praises and psalms. Amen.

In our focus scripture, Galatians 5:1, Paul reminds the Galatians that Jesus's death and resurrection had set them free from depending on rituals and sacrifices to obtain forgiveness and salvation from God. He
was telling the Christian Galatians, stay true to the good news of salvation through Christ Jesus!! Accepting anything else would be like the bondage of slavery. Christ has provided through faith, grace, and mercy our protection against the enemies of our physical and spiritual life. Those who do not know the finished work of Jesus's death on the cross, will not know the freedom that liberates humanity from the evil of the prince of darkness of this present age. Believers in the cross, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, through faith in Jesus death on the cross. On July 4, 2020, America’s Independence Day, I reflected on my independence from the laws of the Old Testament era and the freedom to praise God for Jesus, grace, and mercy. Do not take it for granted. Be a disciple and spread the “Good News of the gospel of Jesus.” This knowledge has set men free and is the greatest freedom ever known by humanity. Amen!!

When we accept Jesus as Lord and savior, we also acknowledge that we are sinners saved by the blood of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection (Grace). We have a heart change that moves us to desire to please God and develop a special relationship with Him. Nevertheless, this does not mean that evil will stop pursuing us and trying to entice us to make choices that are contrary to God’s plans for us. Insisting on getting, having, owning, being, doing, possessing what you want can lead to selfishness. Selfishness speaks to satisfying the flesh. Our focus scripture “Galatians 6:7” speaks of reaping and sowing, “for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap, yes God has ordained that we reap what we sow. It's’ like planting corn and expecting vineyard grapes to grow. If our behaviors involve doing evil at any level God sees everything. So, do not be deceived, eventually, God will allow the deeds we do, both good and evil to return to us. We have a saying “what goes around, comes around.” The phrase mocking God means disrespecting, dishonoring, denying, or ignoring His existence. It is a serious offense committed by those who David in scriptures describe as wicked because there is " no fear of God before [their] eyes" (Psalm 36:1). But God is not mocked for long and eventually, there will be consequences for such behavior. Therefore, those who put out seeds of good and love you will receive good and love in return. Reaping what you sowed. Let us stop insisting on what we want. This can make you miserable. Take time to speak with God in prayer and ask God to give you what He wants for you. It will always be better!! Trust Him. Amen.

Are you excited for “Father’s Day” this Sunday (June 21, 2020)? In my family, my siblings and I called our Father, daddy. Even as adults, we continued that name for our Father. As we know there are many names for the person, we consider our Father, like Pops, Dad, Old Man, Poppa, Big guy, Papa, and so forth. Although this special recognition for Fathers is completely driven by the retail marketers, we feel compel to participate because of all the commercial hype. Nevertheless, when you love and appreciate your Father you celebrate with them often because there is something about Fathers which makes us feel secure and safe. The scripture 2 Peter 1:3, points us to our heavenly Father, God. Our Godly father is universal and available for all humanity. Our heavenly Father has divine power to provide everything we need for life and godly living. He is greater than our minds can comprehend. Ephesians 3:20 assures us that He (God) “can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” I pray we contact our heavenly father daily. He is waiting for your call and your trust. He is greater than you think. He is able. Amen.

Can you remember walking beside a moving body of water like a lake or river or sat beside a flowing drift of water going downstream, did you see the wind ripples and waves moving the water further and further out? When I was a youth, in the summer after heavy rain and the sun came out, the children in my neighborhood would love to put small paper boats in the rushing water of the street gutters and watch the little boats float down the street. We watch until they drifted away into the gutter drains…gone out of sight. In the same way, that drifting water can slowly move tangible things out of our site; people who haven’t anchored their faith in God can slowly lose heart when the trials of life slowly pull us from the truth of putting an anchor in the gospels. In our focus scripture, Hebrew 2:1, the writer of this letter, passionately informs the Hebrews to hold earnestly to the foundation of salvation and liberty established by Jesus. Some Jewish converts to Christianity were slowly turning back to the old laws established by Moses…animal sacrifice for sins and other restrictions. Leaving the faith that Jesus was the last sacrificial atonement for sin. Beloved, do not become so overwhelmed with the challenges of the day to day grind, that we neglect finding strength in worship, prayer, studying God’s Word, and praise. Resist turning to anything or anybody but God. It requires a concentrated effort to stay anchored to our faith, lest we drift away. Put your anchor in Christ Jesus. AMEN!!

In the current midst of the global deaths from the pandemic of Covid-19, and the brutal death of George Floyd, a handcuffed unarmed black man murdered in the custody of four white Police Officers on the street, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of the White Officers kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck while another kept his knee on his back for approximately nine (9) minutes, thus stopping his breathing. Before he died, Floyd pleaded with the four officers involved in his murder, saying “I can’t breathe,” but nothing but Mr. Floyd’s death stopped the Police Officers. Racial discrimination and Police brutality are not new to the World and especially to Black people in America. Therefore, the World is currently protesting in mass numbers after viewing the videoed and televised death. The deaths from Covid-19 and the many deaths due to racial bias are presently very heavy on the hearts of many Black, White, and other ethnics who protest in solidarity about the injustice. The focus scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:6, brings us back to the reality of the limitations and fragile nature of our human existence on earth. In fact, in 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Paul was speaking about his struggle between life and death. He realized that our physical life is framed in bodies “at home” here on earth. However, this world as it is now is not our home forever. We were not meant to experience the suffering and sadness of a world broken by sin and disobedience. Home for the Believer means being in a place of comfort, peace, and ease enjoying intimacy with God without barriers. Scripture tells us, that in this world we will have trials and tribulations (John 16:33). But be of good cheer, I (God) have overcome the world. This is a promise from God, that this world is not our home. So be confident and encouraged that Believers in Christ's death and resurrection means freedom to enter our eternal rest in glory with God. Amen!!

Our scripture this week focuses on the sweet and precious word, “LOVE.” To say “I love you” to someone and truly mean it, can help the hearing person blossom, and grow like a plant receiving fertilizer to its roots. Many songs, poetry, books, plays, etc., have been written to encapsulate the essence of human love and the emotional feeling of well-being that accompanies this intense feeling of deep affection. The book of John, from which our selected scripture comes from, is a book of love. John the writer, even calls himself the disciple whom Jesus loved. John clearly demonstrates in this gospel how much God loves humanity by sending His son (John 3:16) to rescue and redeem us from the bondage of sin. Sin, which was cast into the world by Satan, to destroy humanity. Jesus teaches us to love each other. His love broke the chains linking us to bondage. Love set humanity free and love is our bridge to a relationship with God. To love one another is a direct command from the heart of Jesus to each of us. Jesus goes on to repeat it twice in John 15: “Love each other” (v.12). Yes, it is a command! Jesus lets us know, He is the example, “that you love one another, as I have loved you” (v. 17). So, let us just do it. Now, that is a command!!

Have you ever been on a group tour? Group tours are formed for various scenarios. I have been on tours in a foreign country; tours in highly acclaimed museums, tours in historic landmarks like Williamsburg, Va. A tour can be as simple as learning about another section of our local community. On most tours, a tour guide identifies themselves as the Specialist who knows everything about the area you are going to encounter. The Specialist knows all the good and not so good activities to engage in while touring, which makes the experience more rewarding for the people. Our scripture “Isaiah 48:17” reminds me of being on a tour with a Specialist. God identifies Himself as “The Lord our God, our Redeemer.” Then God tells us that He will teach us (like the Specialist) what is best for us. Only God knows the future and the past and only God can control our destiny with His full knowledge and authority to lead us. This scripture states that God teaches us to profit as well. Profit may be monetary as well as fulfillment in accomplishing our goals along our life journey. Our life does come with instructions from the Specialist who is God our Redeemer. A Redeemer who loved us before we were born. Our Redeemer God sent His Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior and Redeemer. The Bible has His instructions. Life has more meaning and peace when we follow His lead. Read Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” Follow this Almighty Specialist. He planned the tour and knows everything about it. You can trust Him. Amen!!

Our scripture this week gives each of us a direct and specific instruction to not embrace the negative spirit of fear. God wants us to know He is near us. He is always near us and in all places. God knows the work of the enemy is to put stumbling blocks in our daily journey as we face different challenges day by day. Currently, all Nations are still under the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic. This pandemic is one way of Satan doing his job to make us feed on fears. He is orchestrating panic into the atmosphere. Nevertheless, our scripture this week tells us “Fear Not.” We can do this because; this message, not to fear is coming from God. Glory! Glory! So, whose report are you going to listen to, or better yet family, whose report are you going to believe? Our God is not a man, that He should lie. So, believe His Words, trust Him. Then pray and praise Him. Prayer and praises will change the negative atmosphere. Scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7, “Tells us that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and sound of mind.” So, pray that when you have your challenging moments, that you do not fear, but ask for a sound mind to get over the issues and move into love and a sound mind. “HAVE FAITH IN GOD.” Amen.

Our scripture this week found in Matthew 28:19, in most bibles is under the heading of the “Great Commission,” mandated by Jesus, to spread the good news of salvation while making disciples throughout all nations. This Sunday is Mother’s Day (May 10, 2020). Mothers are also mandated to love and nurture their children. Throughout history, women have received this assignment in positions other than biological birth mothers. Aunties, foster mothers, grandmothers, and even teachers to name a few, have stepped up to be Mothers because the duties of motherhood are most effective when performed through the heart. Likewise, in this week’s scripture, Jesus' love for the World, after His resurrection, was driven by His total commitment to redeem humanity back to God. Mothers have a unique position to ensure that their children learn about salvation through Christ Jesus. So, to celebrate mothers on Mother’s Day is to acknowledge that all persons, males, and females will have life and life more abundantly when the mandate of “The Great Commission” is taught, followed, and believe. Carrying out “The Great Commission” is not always easy. Motherhood is not always easy as well. Nevertheless, the reward of making disciples and nurturing lives is priceless. Mothers I pray that your Mother’s Day is enjoyed to the fullest. Amen!!

This deadly virus does not discriminate, everyone is potentially vulnerable. Without a current cure, people are mandated to quarantine themselves for weeks in order to slow the spread of this deadly infection. News media is 24/7 about Covid-19, informing us of the number of deaths, the number of infected, and the economic fallout associated with the global quarantine. This is not the time to let fear overarch faith. This pandemic is no surprise to God. God has provided a clear hope for Believers who set their eyes on the race won for us through Jesus. When life issues get out of control, be encouraged by remembering God is always in control. All things will work together for our good (Romans 8:28). Stop getting absorbed by the bad news. Resurrection Sunday for the year 2020 finds most Christians worshipping under the mandate of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Sunday worship is provided through various technological means such as web streaming, teleconferencing, Zoom, and available television networks, to name a few. We can still tune in to hear the message from the cross which shouts of forgiveness. As Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:24). Jesus was spat on, beaten, pierced with a spear, mocked and tortured and yet He forgave those who did these things to Him. Jesus forgave publicly and He did it at the start of His bloody crucifixion. This act of forgiveness portrays an example for humanity going forward into all generations. If Jesus can forgive His executioners, how can you or I withhold our forgiveness from others. In Matthew 6:14-15, we are instructed and warned that “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Beloved, please don’t cancel out the blessing of forgiveness for our sins, by not forgiving those who hurt us. Without the forgiveness of our sins, we cannot transition from this earthly journey into the peaceful realm of heaven to be with the Lord. Though it may be hard, the Holy Spirit will be our helper to make it happen. So, let’s rejoice and sing praises to Jesus for the blood of forgiveness which is our bridge into earthly and eternal peace and rest. In the last two weeks (March 8-22 of 2020) and moving forward, our World is being challenged like no other time in history. An invisible enemy to the physical body named coronavirus (COVID-19) is lurking in the atmosphere, on surfaces and infected bodies and we have no vaccine. This enemy has reached a pandemic explosion universally and is causing fear in the hearts of humanity. Nevertheless, Believers must replace fear with faith. Let us pray without ceasing. As the enemy (COVID -19) is spreading; all believers must spread the Word of God even faster. This is a time of accountability as noted in Romans 14:12. What will our records show when we meet God? Did we replace fear with faith? This text prepares us that our Accountability has 4 phases: 1. It is universal, “Each one of us” 2. Is Inevitable “Each one of us shall give” 3. Is Personal “account of himself” 4. Is Supreme “to God.” Therefore, let us not judge anyone more than we judge ourselves. God’s got the World’s attention and He is in control. This is the perfect time to spread faith over fear. What will you hear Him say about you!! Stay prayerful and safe this week, Amen.

God wants us to develop a relationship with Him. This relationship should be positive and rewarding and can be better than talking with a best friend. God created us to spend time with Him by prayer and talking with Him daily. Scripture tells us “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matt. 4:4). Our flesh needs bread, our soul needs God’s Word to live. Our best communication is fulfilling when we trust who we are talking with. God is the foundation of this trust. Our conversations should be honest and open to listening as well. Joshua (a young man) also found peace and comfort in the presence of God because he hung-out in the Tabernacle and received instruction with power and purpose. Let us do the same!! Hopefully, you felt great about what you created. The Lord our God sees people in the same manner. Knowing that the Lord is God, He made each of us in His own image and therefore people are not an interruption or inconvenience to Jesus. We are an opportunity for Him to show loving care and His Father to demonstrate His power and ability to meet our every need. People are God’s prize creation. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd “(John 10:11) and He said, “My sheep hear my voice…” (John

1 Corinthians 13:2
Greetings Family:
This reflection scripture is a very powerful message to each of us concerning the value God puts on love. Prophecy, interpretation of dreams and mysteries, and even the deepest faith that can move mountains, these gifts count as nothing if love is not a part of our spirit for activating our gifts. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love." This love is set in "Agape" love, which is selfless, sacrificial and unconditional. Agape love is the highest of the four types of love in the Bible. Practice agape love to everyone, it pleases God and you will reap the reward. Have a blessed week.

February is the Month when retail stores and online
Shoppers are bombarded with tons of options for gifts to give people which show love on Valentine’s
Day, which is February 14. Notice that you can purchase love gifts for every age level; babies, toddlers,
youth, young adults, women and men and even for Pets. Nevertheless, God sent His one and only son
(Jesus Christ) to pay the price for all our sins. The price was death on the cross. But God raised Jesus
from the pit of hell, and He is alive sitting on the right hand of God for all eternity. God loves us so much
and He wants us in heaven with Him and Jesus. Jesus is the greatest love gift God gave for everyone. Just
open your heart and freely receive Him.

Psalm 127: 3-5
This scripture teaches us that having a child or children is a blessing from God and they are to be cherished as God’s special gift to their parents. Godly Parents must first teach their children to love and honor God. Then Parents are to love, care for, and make their children feel safe. These nurtured children will grow into mature thinking adults who will return love to their communities and more importantly love and support their parents in their senior years. Have a very blessed week.
